U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) crews and local agencies searched for a man who was swept into the ocean at Cannon Beach Wednesday, June 17. The search began around 3:30 p.m.

Petty Officer Steve Strohmaier said the man had reportedly been swept out to sea, along with a female child. The child was rescued.

“911 was called first,” Strohmaier said.

Strohmaier said local agencies used the jet skis in the search. USCG searched by helicopter and a small boat crew.

USCG searched until around 10 p.m., after sunset.

Strohmaier said they treated this as someone missing.

As of now, there is no further information.
