RAIN Magazine
accepting work

RAIN Magazine is accepting submissions for its 2015 edition.

RAIN Magazine, Clatsop Community College’s annual literary and arts publication, is accepting submissions through Jan. 10 for the 2015 edition.

RAIN welcomes submissions from the general public as well as the college’s students.

Those making submissions should send no more than three items. Prose and poems must contain fewer than 5,000 words. Photographs and high quality digital images of original artwork also will be accepted. Because the magazine’s ability to print color is limited, artists submitting color images should indicate if the image can appear in black and white.

Include name, address, phone number, email address, title of the work, medium and a two- to three-line biography with all entries. No manuscripts will be returned; they will be recycled instead.

Online submissions are encouraged. Email RTF, DOC, DOCX, TIFF or JPG files (at least 300 dpi) to rainmagazine@clatsopcc.edu.

Include your full name, genre and title in the subject line of email submissions. Submissions without proper contact information will not be considered.

Submissions can also be mailed to: RAIN Magazine, Clatsop Community College, 1651 Lexington Ave., Astoria, OR 97103.

Current college students and interested community members can join the staff of RAIN Magazine by registering for WR270 Literary Publications, Tuesday/Thursday, 12-2:20 p.m. in winter term. Registration opens Nov. 14.

Students participate in all phases of producing a literary magazine (manuscript selection, graphic design, editing, fundraising, correspondence and distribution). The course includes instruction in the industry standard publishing software Adobe InDesign. Instructors Alison Ruch and Lucien Swerdloff will lead the 2015 RAIN Magazine project.

For information, contact Ruch at 503-338-5746 or aruch@clatsopcc.edu
