The Clatsop County Public Health Department reports one new local COVID-19 case.

The individual is a male north-county resident age 50-59. He is recovering at home.

The man is an employee of the Da Yang Seafoods processing facility in Astoria. Clatsop County Public Health Department conducted testing of all 160 of the company’s workers on Thursday, July 23 after the company informed the county that one of its employees had tested positive for COVID-19 earlier in the week. That individual, a male north-county resident age 30-39, was also recovering at home.

Da Yang shut down its two processing facilities for deep cleaning last week.

The county has recorded a total of 69 cases since March 23. Fifty-five of those individuals have recovered; the others are convalescing at home.

The county is offering drive-through COVID-19 testing to members of the public two days a week. Due to increased demand, testing in most cases is being limited to those with COVID-19 symptoms or individuals who are contacts of positive cases.
