The Cannon Beach Academy received a grant award from Oregon’s Department of Education to expand operations and provide further educational support to our community.

The Cannon Beach Academy, a Charter School with 501(c)(3) status, providing tuition-free, public education within the Seaside School District, was awarded a $180,000 grant from the Oregon Department of Education. This grant is restricted and cannot be used for staff compensation.

According to academy director Amy Fredrickson, the school is one of only a few charter schools awarded a grant in the entire state of Oregon. This is the second ODE grant awarded to the academy since its opening.

The grant may be used to prepare and deliver curriculum and respond to students' individual learning needs, provide staff development and outreach to the community, Frederickson said. The grant is also designed to prepare and deliver an English Language Development curriculum and administer nationally recognized achievement tests in language arts, reading, math, science and social sciences.
