Two forums are planned to discuss Clatsop Community College’s $8 million bond measure on the Nov. 4 ballot.
The first forum will be Oct. 9 in Columbia Hall, room 219 on the college’s main campus, 1651 Lexington Ave. in Astoria. The second forum will be Oct. 15 at the college’s South County Center, 1455 N. Roosevelt Drive, Seaside. Both meetings begin at 6 p.m.
The bond measure would renovate Patriot Hall on the main campus. Dedicated on Armistice Day 1921, the 93-year-old building first served Astoria High School and later became a central element of the college campus. Renovation would enable the building to continue serving the college for the next 100 years.
SRG Partnership, Inc., the architectural firm that redesigned Towler and Columbia halls, will redesign Patriot Hall. Representatives will be present at both public forums to present their concept.
College representatives will discuss plans for new and improved programs to be conducted in the renovated building. If voters approve the ballot measure, the funds will be matched by the state.
