March 29

1:22 a.m. U.S. Highway 101 at 7 Dees: K-9 deployment, assistance provided to Seaside Police Department. After an alert by K-9 Officer Gunner, a substance believed to be methamphetamine was located. Two subjects were taken into custody.

11 a.m. 100 block of West Gower Street: burglary 1. Report of wallet stolen from inside hotel room between 7:45 and 8:30 p.m. Patio door left open during this time frame.

11:46 p.m. East Second Street: camping within city limits. Two subjects warned for overnight camping.

March 30

3:20 a.m. 400 block of South Promenade: assistance provided to Seaside Police Department. SPD attempting to locate two criminal mischief suspects. Second call during first attempt to locate stolen bicycle suspect. Unable to locate all.

9:57 a.m. U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 29: abandoned/junk vehicle. Officer Seth Collins observed an abandoned vehicle at milepost 29. Driver-side tires touching fog line. Vehicles driving on highway appeared to be able to navigate around abandoned vehicle without issue. Officer put tow notice on vehicle. At approximately 4:55 p.m., Officer Edwards advised that vehicles were now having issues passing vehicle. Vehicle towed by Gary’s Cannon Beach Service Center from shoulder of road to their shop, as it was now constituting a traffic hazard and would only get worse once the sun went down. 8 p.m. 1400 block of South Hemlock Street: call on a disturbance. Verbal argument between married couple over car keys. Both subjects intoxicated and sleeping in separate rooms for the night. Couple agreed to go to sleep and not drive for the evening. No further complaints.

March 31

3:42 p.m. 400 block of Elk Creek Road: suspicious circumstances. Complaint of a girl smoking cigarettes in the stairwell of the condos, leaving butts on the stairs and ground. Complainant knows the girl does not live there. Officer searched for her, to no avail.

April 1

7:58 a.m. 800 block of Spruce Street: death investigation. Determined to be natural causes.

4:26 p.m. 200 block of North Spruce Street: call for information. Waved down by staff and advised they had a former employee who was still living on campus. Said employee had threatened suicide previously, and staff was concerned she may threated it again. Staff wanted information regarding local mental health services. Officer provided what information he could.

April 2

8:02 a.m. Sunset and Hemlock streets: camping within city limits. Report of subjects sleeping in the doorway to a vacant building. Officer arrived on scene. Verbal warning issued. Subjects cleared, waiting for a bus to Tillamook.

April 3

3:59 a.m. 15th Avenue and Roosevelt Drive in Seaside, southbound: K-9 deployment, assistance provided to Seaside Police Department. Operator of vehicle failed to yield for several blocks. Seaside Police Department requested a K-9 officer sniff. Operator of the vehicle gave consent to search the vehicle with K-9. Negative alert. Operator arrested for DUII.

11:47 a.m. 600 block of Spruce Street: welfare check. Request for welfare check on subject making suicidal statements over email. Officer responded, made contact and determined that subject was not a threat to himself or others.

3:41 p.m. U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 27: motor vehicle accident. Exchanged happened prior to officer’s arrival.

10:58 p.m. 76 station at Avenue U in Seaside: possession of methamphetamine, assistance provided to Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office. Traffic stop resulted in possession of controlled substance: methamphetamine, heroin and oxycodone.

April 4

7:26 a.m. Breakers Point: camping within city limits. Caller reported subjects camping on beach. Officer responded and advised subjects of city ordinance regarding overnight camping. Subjects were warned and officer cleared.

April 5

12:08 a.m. 200 block of North Hemlock Street: motor vehicle accident. Subject backed vehicle into telephone pole.

April 6

2:28 p.m. Seventh and Oak streets: missing person. Report of a found child. Officer arrived. The child’s father was located. Child and parent were reunited.

7:43 p.m. U.S. Highway 101, northbound: assistance provided to Seaside Police Department, Traffic stop resulted in DUII. After subject was arrested, K-9 was deployed for sniff, alerted to glove box, which contained an open airbag cover. Alert possibly based on residual. No contraband was found.

April 7

7:10 a.m. Spruce Street parking lot: camping within city limits. Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging.

9:34 a.m. 900 block of North Spruce Street: code violation. House address numbers missing. Upon further investigation, residence is located out of city limits but within Cannon Beach Rural Fire Protection District. Case was referred.

10:23 p.m. Second Street parking lot: camping within city limits. Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging.

April 8

11:35 a.m. 300 block of Elk Creek Road: theft II. Theft of gasoline.

7:19 p.m. Warren Way: welfare check on female beside U.S. Highway 101, Transient female, refused offer to stay in available shelters. Female was transported off of highway to bus shelter. Women’s Resource Center contacted for options.

10:26 p.m. Gower Street parking lot: camping within city limits. Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging.

11:37 p.m. Second Street at sewer ponds: camping within city limits.

April 9

12:03 a.m. Tolovana Wayside: camping within city limits. Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging.

10:52 a.m. 3700 block of Coho Place: call for information. Caller originally reported a possible burglary in her vacant home after she found a syringe on a window sill. Later that day, she called to cancel the report after learning the syringe belonged to her adult daughter and had been used to give a cat an injection.

1:10 p.m. West Second and Hemlock streets: call on a disturbance. Callers reported street preachers. Officer responded. No laws were being broken. Subject given counsel as to acceptable behavior.

April 10

12:32 a.m. West Harrison Street: camping within city limits. Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging.

9:11 a.m. 100 block of West Gower Street: suspicious circumstances. Report of a subject attempting to gain access to hotel room from balcony. When guests’ dog barked, suspect jumped to a neighboring balcony. The guest noticed the neighboring lights turned on. The guest also noticed people on the beach walking with flashlights, which she thought could have been related. No suspect information other than he or she had a hoodie on.

11:50 a.m. 100 block of East Jefferson Street: theft II.

2:31 p.m. 200 block of North Hemlock Street: motor-vehicle accident, hit and run. Victim’s driver-side mirror was struck by passing vehicle at unknown time. No suspects or other noted damage. Photos taken of damage.
