Midnight Tolovana Wayside: other all. Subjects contacted for possible overnight camping; weren’t camping. Contacted the previous night; subjects are staying at a local motel. They have been parking their motor home in the Wayside at night to hang out in and go to the beach, before moving the motor home back to the nearby motel. Subject advised that the Wayside is for day use only and closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

12:14 a.m. Fernwood Street: camping within city limits. Two subjects warned for overnight camping.

2:24 a.m. Surfcrest Market: case taken for illegal fireworks. Subjects were contacted and warned for illegal camping.

2:41 a.m. Mo’s Restaurant: camping within city limits. Subjects contacted and warned for overnight camping.

6:48 a.m. Chapman Point: camping within city limits. Caller reporting unlawful lodging. Subjects contacted and warned for overnight camping.

7:01 a.m. West Jackson Street and beach: camping within city limits.

9:58 a.m. North entrance: camping within city limits. Advised of camping ordinance. Packed up tent and departed.

2:52 p.m. North side of Ecola Creek: dog/animal complaints. Caller reported man attempting to drown his dogs by making them go into the ocean and swim with him. Officer responded and checked the area but were unable to locate them. Dogs gone on arrival.

4:54 p.m. Beach at Mo’s Restaurant: suspicious circumstances. Caller reported man sitting on the beach not bothering anyone but in possession of a large knife. Caller concerned about subject’s mental health. Officers responded and attempted to locate him. He was gone upon arrival.

6:57 p.m. Tolovana Wayside: motor vehicle hit and run. Report of damage that occurred to vehicle while parked in Cannon Beach.

11:57 p.m. Second Street restrooms: camping within city limits. Subjects contacted and warned for overnight camping.

12:16 a.m. Sewer ponds: camping within city limits. Subject contacted and warned for overnight camping.

12:50 a.m. 200 block of North Spruce Street: suspicious circumstances. Caller reported hearing people in the building. Officer responded and was unable to locate anyone out of place. Seems to be an ongoing issue.

1:42 a.m. Seventh and Oak Street: camping within city limits. Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging.

2:42 a.m. Gower Street parking: camping within city limits. Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging.

2:42 a.m. 200 block of North Spruce Street: suspicious circumstances. Caller believes he is hearing more noise in his building. Officer checked all the outside and inside areas near him and found nothing out of the ordinary. All was quiet. Report of suspicious noises. Officer found nothing out of the ordinary.

3:29 a.m. Midtown restrooms: camping within city limits. Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging.

11:36 a.m. Haystack Rock parking lot: report of a hit and run to a vehicle.

12:18 p.m. 100 block of South Hemlock Street: criminal trespass I. Reported attempted entry to an unoccupied motel room.

Sept. 16

12:41 a.m. Beach at Mo’s Restaurant: camping within city limits. Subject contacted and warned for overnight camping.

7:11 a.m. Chapman Point: camping within city limits. Subjects warned for overnight camping.

1:10 p.m. East Dawes Street: suspicious circumstances. Report of a male on a wooded path going through wallet and throwing items from wallet on ground. Reporting person concerned that wallet may be stolen. Checked the area. No signs of male, wallet or any items from wallet strewn about.

1:35 p.m. 100 block of West Gower Street: other all. Report that male hopped fence around Surfsand Resort’s garbage holding area and took two pallets. Officer contacted male transient. Previously contacted for overnight camping. Surfsand did not wish to pursue charges to trespass the male. Male was advised he would receive a citation if discovered camping within city limits as he had been warned twice. Male indicated that was fine and that he would not pay the citation. Male was also advised not to burn wood of the pallet (which he had been breaking against the sea wall) on the beach as it left nails in the sand that people could step on. Male stated that he would clean them up. Advised the male, again, not to burn the pallet on the beach. Male seemed unconcerned with what the officer was telling him or the consequences of such.

7:23 p.m. Haystack Rock: suspicious circumstances. Shopping cart reportedly abandoned in front of Haystack Rock, contained unclean nails, wood. Owner located later burning the wood on the beach. Cited.

Sept. 19

12:21 a.m. Warren Way and beach access: camping within city limits.

12:48 a.m. Second Street RV parking: camping within city limits.

10:33 p.m. Second Street sewer ponds: camping within city limits.

Sept. 21

12:13 a.m. Second Street restrooms: other all. Officer received report of a small fire burning in a trash can within the male restroom. Fire was out prior to officer’s arrival.

1:25 a.m. Second Street skate park: camping within city limits. Subject contacted and warned for overnight camping.

1:29 a.m. Second Street sewer ponds: camping within city limits. Subject contacted and warned for overnight camping.

2:51 a.m. Public Parking on Spruce Street: camping within city limits. Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging.

8:28 a.m. Elk Creek: suspicious circumstances. Report of kayak on north end of river by Breakers Point. Caller concerned about welfare of the owner. Located owner who said he was ocean kayaking from Vancouver, B.C., to San Francisco. Got in trouble with large swell the prior evening. Made it to shore and is now having a friend pick him up. Terminating his voyage. Said he was OK.

Sept. 22

1:48 a.m. Second and Larch streets: call for information. Report of missing female. Subject missing for more than three hours. Officer was able to locate the missing person and reunite with party.

7 a.m. Beach at Larch street: camping within city limits. Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging.

1:42 p.m. Gogona and Hemlock streets: motor vehicle accident. Single motor vehicle crash. Non-injury. Vehicle backed off roadway and was resting at a 45-degree angle on an embankment.

11:57 p.m. Sewer pond: camping within city limits. Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging.

Sept. 23

12:07 a.m. Second Street and Skate Park: camping within city limits. Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging.

12:09 a.m. Second Street and Skate Park: camping within city limits. Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging.

1:11 a.m. Hemlock and Fernwood streets: camping within city limits. Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging.

2:20 a.m. Second Street sewer pond: camping within city limits. Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging.
