A Mother Son Dance, organized by Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District (SEPRD), is set from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Seaside Civic & Convention Center. A Daddy Daughter Dance will be held the following night from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 1.

The evening includes a live DJ, dance lessons by Encore Dance Studio, a candy-making station, contests, a photo booth, snacks and light refreshments, raffle prizes.

Both of the dances are annual. The Daddy Daughter Dance has been held for six years and the Mother Son Dance was first held last year.

“This event celebrates these special relationships,” said Angi Wildt, Seaside Farmer’s Market manager at SEPRD.

Wildt said these dances provide a time to celebrate those special relationships. The Daddy Daughter Dance had 350 attendees last year and the Mother Daughter Dance had 250. The dances grow every year and they have room for growth.

The raffle prizes will include different games, arts and crafts, and toys.

“All make ups of families are encouraged to come,” Wildt said.

You do not have to be a traditional mother/son and daddy-daughter to attend and everyone is welcome.

TLC, a Division of Fibre Federal Credit Union is the title sponsor of the event. Saunders said they are an amazing partner.

Cost is $25 per couple and $5 for each additional son/daughter. Space is limited, so register early. You can register at http://www.sunsetempire.com/ or call 503-738-3311.
