Every Tuesday afternoon through September, the parking lot at the corner of Hemlock and Gower streets will be filled with local farmers, producers and artisans selling the bounty of the Oregon coast.

The Cannon Beach Farmers Market opened for the season on Tuesday, and will be open every Tuesday 1-5 pm through Sept. 24.

The 11th Cannon Beach Farmers Market will feature 29 vendors throughout the season selling everything from a wide variety of fresh produce, pasture-raised meat, seafood and organic cheeses, to hand-crafted artisan food products.

“We’re very excited; we have a good number of vendors,” Cannon Beach Farmers Market Manager Philomena Lloyd said. “Our vendors are fabulous people, not just counting their products. We have super vendors who get repeat customers.”

Returning vendors this year include Sea Level Bakery + Coffee, Necanicum Fresh Farm, Baird Family Orchards, CS Fishery, and many more.

In addition to visitor favorites, this season has a few new faces joining the mix. Sea Star Gelato of Seaside will be dishing up creamy creations; Drink a Shrub will introduce you to their all-natural drinking vinegar, Christina’s Dog Treats has a snack for your canine friend; and 503 Distilling will have their craft cocktails for purchase.

“The market committee makes periodic visits to various locations where vendors work or sell their products,” Lloyd said. “The vendors then apply and, to approve a vendor, the market manager and the food liaison need to agree that it’s a good product mix into the market.”

Lloyd says the market committee works hard to not duplicate “like items” so that everyone makes a fair amount of money and are not competing for business.

Every week the Cannon Beach Farmers Market will also feature regional and local musicians.

“There’s a fun mix for everyone involved,” said Lloyd.

Music is brought to the Cannon Beach Farmers Markey by market entertainment sponsors, including: Brandon Ogilvie, Cannon Beach Vacation Rentals, Center Diamond Fabric ETC,  Northwest By Northwest Gallery, The Ocean Lodge, Found, and DragonFire Gallery.

“We have a wonderful market committee that are all volunteers who are committed to a healthy environment and healthy eating,” said Lloyd. “And then we have a wonderful group of people who help us set up and run the market.”

There are  more opportunities to be a sponsor or a volunteer for the 2019 season. Call 503-436-8044 or email farmersmarket@ci.cannon-beach.or.us to sign up!

The Cannon Beach Farmers Market also accepts the Oregon Trail Card and WIC vouchers.

And after shopping the market, it’s an easy stroll and just minutes away from downtown Cannon Beach’s renowned shopping district. The Midtown area is host to fine galleries and restaurants, and is the gateway to one of the loveliest beaches in the world and the majestic Haystack Rock.
