Who: Surfsand Resort, the Oregon Coast’s premier oceanfront family and dog-friendly resort located in Cannon Beach.

What: Dog lovers everywhere will enjoy this fascinating, behind-the-scenes look at what goes into selecting and training assistance dogs, as well as heartwarming stories of the amazing dogs who have touched the lives of thousands of people with disabilities and special needs.

Author Maureen Maurer will read excerpts from her book, including Chapter 2, "Samba Sparks Wonder." A professionally trained assistance dog and puppy-in-training will be on-site for attendees to observe and see firsthand.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in giveaways, which will include plush toy service dog puppies with their blue coats.

There will be complimentary dog biscuits.

Maureen Maurer is the founder and executive director of Assistance Dogs Northwest and holds a masters of science degree in canine studies. She is an author, researcher, and sought-after international speaker. She has dedicated her life to helping people with disabilities and other special needs live life to the fullest with the help of their assistance dogs.
