Fat Bike

The Fat Bike Festival is slated for May 17-19.

Fat Bike Festival is finally here!

Enjoy a weekend of fat bike events and explore the Cannon Beach community from May 17-19. Fat bikes are off-road bicycles with oversized tires designed for low ground pressure to allow riding on soft terrain. The bikes have frames with wide forks to accommodate the wide rims required to fit the tires.

Events are planned throughout the weekend of the 17th including a sunset beach ride, a long ride to Hug Point for a waterfall view, a poker ride/scavenger hunt around town looking for hidden treasures and tasty treats, a full moon bonfire with fat bike games and more. The weekend finishedsoff with a Sunday beach cleanup and bicycle art project in collaboration with the Haystack Rock Awareness Program.

The event kicks off on Friday with a four-mile group beach ride from Ecola Creek to Tolovana and back. Saturday morning there will be a 13-mile beach ride to the waterfall and back. The afternoon scavenger hunt features a two-night SurfSand Resort stay as the grand prize. And don’t miss the bike-riding limbo contest later in the day.

Don’t worry about getting worn out, participation in every event; encouraged but not required. Also, there will be fat bikes available for people to try out if they don’t have their own. There is parking behind the old Cannon Beach Elementary School on Beaver Street.

If you need a fat bike, you can rent one from Bike Newport (541-265-9917). You’ll need to call and reserve a bike, which will be delivered to the event. Fat Back Bikes will also be at the event with a large fleet of demo bikes available for use. If you need further assistance regarding a fat bike or have questions, please contact Director@OregonRides.com.
