Included in the list of Cannon Beach summer events canceled or postponed because of the pandemic are the North Coast Culinary Fest, the Fat Bike Festival and the 56th-annual Sandcastle Contest.

The North Coast Culinary Fest has been postponed until a date to be determined. The event was scheduled for May 15-17. It’s a weekend of culinary arts honoring James Beard and friends. A portion of the proceeds goes to a culinary arts program at Seaside High School.

The summertime Fat Bike Festival has been rescheduled for Oct. 16-18. It’s a weekend of fat-bike events, including exploring the beaches and community of Cannon Beach by bike.

The Sandcastle Contest has been postponed to a date to be determined. It usually takes place in June. Dozens of teams of professional sand sculpture artists, amateur groups and families construct creations in the sand. In 2014, the contest was recognized as an Oregon Heritage Tradition by the Oregon Parks & Recreation Department, making it one of just 11 events statewide to achieve the designation.
