The new edition of the Cannon Beach Magazine is coming out in mid-February.

Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce Director James Paino said: “We’re excited about the magazine that is coming out.”

Paino said the magazine marketing committee made the decision not to publish the magazine last year and instead used the stock on hand from 2020 throughout the year. “We didn’t want to ask (the businesses) for money for advertising in the magazine while they were struggling with the pandemic.”

The Chamber of Commerce runs five events:  the Sandcastle Contest, Fat Bike Festival, Haystack Holidays, Stormy Weather Arts Festival, and North Coast Culinary Festival, he said. He has confirmed all of these events will take place in 2022, except for the North Coast Culinary Festival, which is postponed until 2023.

“We are looking forward to holding the Sandcastle Contest on the beach on June 11 this year,” he said. The last two years it was virtual due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions.

The Fat Tire Bike Festival will be held May 20-22 this year, he said. It is an outdoor event and permits people to social distance. Last year it was held on a smaller scale to comply with the pandemic guidelines. Fewer than 75 people attended. “I expect the event will be much bigger this year.”

The North Coast Culinary Festival has been postponed until the spring of 2023 due to COVID, he said. It takes place indoors and people eat a meal together.

The Stormy Weather Arts Festival always takes place the first weekend in November. This year it will take place November 4-6. It includes many gallery events and live music around the town. The event will continue to follow COVID guidelines.

Haystack Holidays was held last year despite COVID, he said. The event takes place from Thanksgiving through New Year’s.

“The best part is the lamp lighting ceremony in Sandpiper Square,” he said. “It was great to see everybody there.”

Cannon Beach hosts other events throughout the year, including Get Lit at the Beach April 8-10 and the Spring Unveiling Arts Festival, both planned to take place this year, he said.
