The Cannon Beach Gazette is owned and run by Steve and Carol Hungerford, who purchased it in September 2006.
The Hungerfords have deep roots in Oregon. Carol was born and raised in Portland and Steve has been living in the state on and off for over 30 years. Combined, the Hungerfords have over 50 years of newspaper experience, working in both large dailies, and community weekly papers.
Steve holds a BA in journalism from the University of Nebraska and an MS in journalism from the University of Oregon. Carol has a BA from Oregon State University and an MA in arts administration from the University of Washington.
Released every other week, the Gazette has won numerous awards from the National Newspaper Association and other organizations.
Subscribing to the Gazette is easy. In-county (Clatsop County) subscriptions cost $24 per year. Out-of-county (in Oregon), $32 per year. Out of state, $35.
Out of country, please call for rate. First class delivery within the U.S. is $120 annually.
Advertising costs in the Gazette are among the lowest in the Northwest, if not the U.S. Display costs range from $5.00 per column inch (contract for those who advertise in all 26 Gazettes during a 12-month period) to $9 (commissionable rate). Our "Open Rate" is $7.50 per column inch.
Classified advertising line rates are $7.50 per insertion for up to 20 words and 20 cents per word thereafter.
The Gazette is a member of the Oregon Newspaper Publisher's Association, as well as the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce.
